Luci-möte i Liège om vikten av social ljussättning
Liège, strax utanför Bryssel, som i mycket påminner om Göteborg med sina spårvagnar bjöd på härligt sommarväder när den i september stod som värd
för LUCI:s möte 'City under microscope'. Något som
delegaterna inte såg så mycket av eftersom den fullmatade konferensen började nio på morgonen och slutade först efter midnatt.
Stor vikt lades vid social ljussättning. Företrädare för Rotterdam, Bangkok och Gent berättade om sina spännande projekt och vilka resultat man nått när man statusmässigt utvecklat områden som länge varit eftersatta.
Jöran Linder och Erik Olsson, två ljusdesigners från Sverige som i femton år arbetat med inriktning mot social ljussättning över hela Europa, tog delegaterna ut på en spännande resa där de i en workshop fick prova att ljussätta parker, statyer och fasader och sedan se färdigt resultat på bild.
Sista kvällen i Liège bjöd på ljuskarneval. Man hade tänt upp 80 000 levande ljus över hela centrum och stängt av för biltrafik. En spännande upplevelse där alla möttes; unga, gamla och barn som fick njuta av härliga konstinstallationer, ljussättningar och spännande afrikansk musik.

We had a wonderful time very intensive, starting up at nine in the morning and ending after midnight.
What did we learn; more about social lighting Erik Olsson and Jöran Linder was some of the lighting designers engaged in the
workshop where we had the possibility to try ourselves how to light up different projects as parks, statues etc in a way
that worked out practically.
We also learned about social lighting in Rotterdam, Bangkok and Gent (Rotterdam you can see at nyttljus.se)
Liège reminded us a little bit about Gothenburg with trams but more crowded.
The last evening we were there Liège had a light candle festival with 80 000 candles on all the streets in the city centre which created a very special atmosphere. A lot of people were there; young, children and old. Everyone was represented and walking around in a car free city eating and enjoying all the art installations together with the light.
